The Canada-China Lawyers Foundation is a non-profit society established to create opportunities for lawyers in Canada and China to inform each other about their respective legal systems, exchange views, and to work together to build bridges between the two legal systems.

Foundation Mandate

• To operate according to principles of cooperation, reciprocity, and fellowship, with an emphasis on building long-term professional relationships.
• To stimulate open dialogue and closer ties between lawyers in Canada and China
• To act as a voice between the two countries on the changes required to mobilize the legal systems in both countries in order to increase trade and private sector bonds
• To allow lawyers in both countries to stay informed on up-to-date developments on important legal matters.

To this end, the Canada-China Lawyers Foundation organizes The Canada-China Lawyers Forum, an annual gathering of distinguished lawyers from the two countries. The Canada-China Lawyers Forum is designed to facilitate the creation of professional and collegial alliances through close and direct interaction among participants.

The first Canada-China Lawyers Forum will be held in Vancouver and Toronto in Fall 2007.

The next Forum will be held in Beijing and Shanghai in 2008.
